About the Remodel

This 1920’s home has an unusual history. It was moved to its current location in 1965 to make room for I-5 through Tumwater. At which time the home had an addition added which nearly doubled the size of the home to 1300sf. In 2002 there was a fire in one of the bedrooms and the home, mostly smoke damaged, was completely remodeled.

When the current owners bought the home in 2011 it had cheap Berber carpet, chocolate chip mint green walls, a funky layout and cheap finishes throughout. The home was ready for some serious updating. The clients love of the modern farmhouse look was the inspiration for this project. The main goal was to join the detached garage with the home, have a designated laundry room, create a master suite with its own bath, enlarge the outdoor living space and spruce up all the finishes.

The 6-month remodel included:
  1. Adding a 16’ x 23’ master bedroom/bath addition with sliding door to the new outdoor living space,
  2. Rearranging interior walls to enlarge the kitchen and create a laundry room,
  3. All new windows and 7 new skylights,
  4. Flooring in the form of tile/Marmoleum/hardwoods,
  5. New kitchen layout with sink facing the backyard,
  6. Enclosing the breezeway and making a hall bath and mudroom in the new space.

Interior features include:

Radiant floor heat throughout the master bath with barrier-free walk-in shower, touch-screen lighted vanity mirrors, custom built-ins, quartz countertops, stacked-stone fireplace, and custom millwork.

On the outside a 14’ x 50’ composite deck with new roof and skylights, Infratech patio heaters, hot tub, built-in BBQ counter with granite, professionally landscaped with irrigation & low volt lighting and new exterior paint in crisp white on white.

Wallpaper is back?!

Not your grandma's floral patterns...

Believe it or not, wallpaper is making a comeback, and we are loving it! There are many new trends out there that are making rooms feel less like big floral bleh and more like a chic design idea.

Digital print

The creativity is in your hands with this trend. Digital print wallpaper lets you have more freedom about which images go on your walls! Any image you can think of can be transformed into a statement piece.

Metallic

You may have seen this trend already, but metallic wallpaper can add elegance and luxuriousness that you've been craving in your home. Our client went with a silver brushed wallpaper for their bathroom below.

Geometric

These 70's geometric trends are making a comeback for sure. An accent wall made of these intriguing patterns isn't overwhelming, but visually appealing. Neutral colors like black or gray can add a subtle and sophisticated feel to bedrooms and living spaces. Meanwhile, brighter hues are perfect for energizing spaces like childrens playrooms.

Whatever your style is, wallpaper can be used to successfully capture your personality and design vision simultaneously. Consider giving one of these new trends a try in your own space!
