Beyond Trends: A Deeper Dive into Lindsey's Approach to Design

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the myriad choices in cabinet styles, paint colors, hardware designs, and flooring options for your kitchen or bathroom remodel? Our Project Developer and Interior Designer, Lindsey Barnes, can guide you through the maze of residential renovations, ensuring smart design for your home’s future needs.

Lindsey Barnes, our Project Developer and Interior Designer, is your go-to expert for choosing neutral and earth-tone cabinet door colors that align perfectly with today’s kitchen and bathroom trends. The use of warm woods like natural rift white oak, alder, or walnut cabinetry, paired with a white or mixed-veined quartz countertop and champagne bronze hardware, can create a relaxing environment for your family. Barnes emphasizes the importance of incorporating mixed metals, glass inserts, light fixtures, and tile accents to refresh your space and seamlessly blend existing furniture and soft furnishings with more vibrant colors.

Having been with Lifespan Construction since 2015, we are proud to have Lindsey as a part of our team. With a background in design from the Clover Park Technical College Interior Design Program and a degree in sustainable design from The Evergreen State College, Barnes brings over 12 years of industry experience to the table. As an Olympia native and a certified Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer (AKBD) through the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), Barnes is dedicated to staying on top of industry trends and delivering top-notch designs.

In today’s renovation landscape, updating kitchen cabinets is a game-changer, according to Lindsey. Cabinets serve as the focal point, the 'wow factor' of a home. Today's remodels lean towards more neutral colors on walls, tiles, or cabinets, with a shift towards balanced warm gray/brown tones paired with wood and metal. While white kitchens remain popular, there's a growing comfort in mixing different hues like greens and blues, bringing the colors of the Pacific Northwest into our homes.

Efficient space utilization is a priority for today's homeowners, and Barnes excels in quality space planning during the development stage. By understanding clients' needs, preferences, and envisioning the intended use of the space, Barnes designs kitchens that are not just functional but serve as entertainment spaces for families and friends.

With every new project, we strive to increase storage space, offering more useful cabinetry with features such as spice pullouts, rollouts for pots and pans, and tall pantry storage cabinets. We believe in utilizing every nook and cranny to enhance the functionality of your space.

Customization is key in our projects, ensuring your home not only looks great but also functions seamlessly. Whether it's creating a built-in charging station, a designated snack cabinet, or a beverage bar with a separate water spout or prep sink, Lifespan Construction tailors each project to your unique vision.

Our team, inspired by your ideas and preferences from sources like Houzz or Pinterest, can bring your dream designs to life. For instance, we recently crafted a custom library nook based on a client's inspirational photo, complete with a custom cushion, unique wallpaper, wood shelf cubbies, and wall sconces—a perfect reading spot for their children.

Lindsey's dedication to Lifespan Construction extends far beyond design; it's about delving into your unique narrative and skillfully crafting a home that eloquently tells your story. We are immensely grateful for Lindsey's hard work and expertise, and we invite you to consider Lifespan Construction for your next home remodel.
